The Work
A composition revealed by movement.
Liminal explores transition and metamorphosis: stillness and movement, physical and digital space, gallery and campus. The in-gallery installation acts as a center. Beyond it, a GPS-based score responds to the campus’s history and topography.
The application is site-specific. A visitor’s route changes the order, distance, and perspective through which the composition is heard. Movement is part of the musical form.
Experience note: the application is site-specific and must be used on the Catholic University campus. Headphones are not required, but provide the intended spatial localization.
Having trouble on site? If the application opens to a blue screen on Android, restart it once after granting location access. If playback is choppy, turn off Wi-Fi and try again. The work will not activate away from campus.
