Summer, A Long Time Ago was my first collaboration with Brian Young and the first work I completed after moving to Germany.
Inspired by en plein air painting, we began with field recordings and digital video gathered in my new surroundings, then returned those materials to the studio. The piece sits between distant memory and the experience of learning a new place.
